The Cause of Ice Damming

Ice damming is caused by heat loss from the living space escaping into the attic during winter. This heat warms the roof deck, which melts the snow resting on the roof. The melted snow runs down the roof slope until it reaches the cold eaves (the overhangs not warmed by the interior).

When the water hits the freezing eaves, it turns to ice. As this process repeats, an "ice dam" forms, causing subsequent melting snow to back up under the traditional shingles, leading to severe water damage inside your walls and ceilings.

The Ultimate Solution

Traditional roofing relies heavily on imperfect interior attic ventilation and insulation to stop the heat. Our premium metal roofing system solves the problem externally.

By installing our metal panels on a double-strapped system, we create a continuous 1.5-inch ambient air space between the solid roof deck and the metal panels.

• Thermal Break: The cold outside air circulates under the panels, ensuring the metal surface remains freezing, preventing the snow from melting in the first place.
• Ventilation: Any minimal heat that does escape the attic is immediately ducted up the air gap to the concealed ridge vent, never warming the metal panel.
• Shedding: When the sun eventually melts the snow, metal provides a frictionless surface, allowing snow and ice to slide off safely rather than accumulating.
• Seamless Protection: Our custom roll-formed panels have no horizontal seams. Even if minor icing were to occur, there is nowhere for the water to back up and penetrate.
